How to Choose the Right 1-Pin Magnetic Connector

A 1-pin magnetic connector handles a single power or signal line through a self-aligning magnetic interface. The right part depends on your current draw, mating cycle target, environmental conditions, and housing geometry. Use the steps below to narrow your specification before requesting samples.

1. Match the voltage and current to your power path. Our standard 1-pin magnetic connectors handle 12V or 60V at 1A, 2A, or 3A per contact. Pick the rating closest to your peak load, then leave 20% headroom for thermal margin. For fast-charging or pulsed loads, talk to our engineers before locking the spec.
2. Check the contact resistance against your signal or power budget. Standard 1-pin parts hold contact resistance at 20 mΩ or below. That keeps power loss negligible at 3A and signal integrity stable on data-bearing lines. If your design runs below 100 mA, contact resistance matters less than mating consistency.
3. Confirm the mechanical life rating matches your product’s service life. Our 1-pin magnetic connectors are rated for 10,000 mating cycles as standard. A connector cycled three times a day will hit 10,000 cycles at roughly nine years of use. For higher cycle counts, we can adjust plating thickness and spring force during custom design.
4. Verify the operating temperature and humidity range. Standard 1-pin parts run from –25°C to +85°C, with extended options down to –40°C. Humidity tolerance covers 10%RH to 90%RH non-condensing. If your product ships into automotive, outdoor, or industrial environments, request the extended-temperature variant before sample order.
5. Choose the right magnet strength and housing geometry. The N52 magnet in our standard 1-pin connectors delivers strong holding force in a compact footprint.
